This week’s exercise is an ab workout that tests your balance, coordination, and helps build core strength. You can use any small household item to pass under your legs in the “weaving” motion. I’m using a dog toy as I practice the motion, but as you build strength and agility a light weight or medicine ball can be used.
- Sit on a yoga mat or carpeted area and hold the weight or small item in your left hand as you lift your feet of the ground. You’ll be balancing in a “V” position.
- Bend your right knee, bringing it towards your chest, and pass the ball under the right leg. Grab the item with your right hand, then switch leg positions and reverse the move to return to the start.
- Continue fluidly for 10-15 seconds, then rest and repeat once more.
- This movement will take time to grow accustomed to. Focus on keeping a straight back, and work to keep your heels from touching the ground. If passing the object is too much at first, work on balancing in the “V” position, then incorporate the weight/object once you’re ready.
